Job Title: Operations / Production Engineer 

Assignment Type: Rotational – 4 Weeks On / 4 Weeks Off

Location: Algeria

Contract Length: Initial 12-Month Contract (Renewable Annually)

Contract and Benefits:

  • 4:4 rotation (28 days on site / 28 days off)

Overview:
An experienced Operations / Production Engineer is required to oversee a major onshore gas processing facility in North Africa. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead day-to-day plant operations within a technically advanced and high-capacity production environment, with a full expatriate support package and a balanced rotation schedule.

Role Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production operations, ensuring safety compliance, and driving performance across the facility. This is a leadership role requiring deep technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple departments and disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with operational HSE standards and procedures

  • Act as Responsible Person for site safety, environmental, and security matters; approve and manage work permits

  • Lead multidisciplinary site teams, covering operations, maintenance, planning, budgeting, HR, and technical reporting

  • Manage production of dry gas, LPG, and condensate in line with contractual specifications

  • Supervise laboratory and quality control processes, ensuring accuracy of product testing and instrument calibration

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies for audits, inspections, and operational reporting

  • Support technical and engineering reviews, continuous improvement, and plant integrity initiatives

  • Manage small capital projects, including plant upgrades and performance enhancements

  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and HSE departments to ensure plant reliability and operational readiness

  • Provide interim leadership in the absence of the site director

Candidate Profile:

  • Degree-qualified in Process, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline

  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in oil and gas production operations, including leadership roles

  • Proven knowledge of gas plant operations and optimisation

  • Experienced in HSE management systems and regulatory compliance

  • Familiarity with industry tools and systems (such as PI System, HYSYS, SAP PM/MM) preferred

  • HSE and safety qualifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, BOSIET/HUET) desirable

  • Excellent leadership, team coordination, and communication abilities
