Operations & Logistics Manager – Lae, Papua New Guinea

A leading logistics provider with over two decades of experience in Papua New Guinea is seeking a capable, hands-on Operations & Logistics Manager to join its growing team in Lae. This full-time leadership role is ideal for someone with a practical mindset, strong organisational skills, and a desire to drive operational improvements.

About the Role
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will oversee daily warehouse, cartage, and workshop operations, managing a team of over 20 staff, including direct supervision of the Workshop Manager. You’ll have the autonomy to structure day-to-day activities while working closely with senior leadership to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

This role requires a proactive leader who can thrive in a rugged, fast-paced environment and is motivated to make a visible impact on operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across warehouse, cartage, and workshop functions

  • Supervise Workshop Manager and ensure maintenance of vehicles and equipment

  • Lead and motivate a team of drivers, warehouse, and workshop personnel

  • Manage delivery schedules and respond to urgent shipments as needed

  • Track and report operational performance using Microsoft Office and Google Sheets

  • Identify and implement process improvements across departments

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and customs officers when required

  • Ensure accurate stock control and compliance with safety practices

  • Promote a culture of accountability, initiative, and teamwork

Requirements

  • Conversational English and Chinese (Mandarin) – Required

  • Experience in logistics, cartage, export, or freight forwarding preferred

  • Strong operational management experience within logistics or transport sectors

  • Practical, hands-on leadership style with a problem-solving mindset

  • Comfortable working independently and making decisions with limited resources

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Sheets

  • Flexible, adaptable, and suited to a regional or remote environment

  • Willingness to be based in Lae, Papua New Guinea

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday: 07:30 – 17:00

  • Saturday: 07:30 – 12:00

  • Occasional after-hours work for urgent or time-sensitive shipments
