Offshore Field Technician (Wind) - Scotland
Location: Scotland
Rotation: 14 days on / 14 days off (indicative)
Contract: Full-time / long-term assignment
Function: Field Operations - Service & Maintenance
Purpose of the Role
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on utility‑scale wind turbines in offshore conditions from a service vessel. Ensure safe systems of work, minimise downtime, and provide clear, timely reporting to planning and control teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow site HSE management systems and Safe Systems of Work (PTW/LOTO, isolations, toolbox talks).
- Perform scheduled services and upgrades on mechanical and electrical systems (yaw/pitch, drives, sensors, converters).
- Troubleshoot faults, run diagnostics, and complete quality component exchanges.
- Create follow‑up work orders and document actions, time, and parts usage in the client's CMMS (e.g., SAP).
- Support retrofit and improvement campaigns in line with OEM bulletins.
- Contribute to near‑miss reporting and lessons learned; maintain tidy work packs and handovers.
- Coordinate with deck crew for tooling, lifting, and spares control onboard a service vessel.
Qualifications / Background
- Time‑served apprenticeship or formal qualification in Electrical or Mechanical discipline (e.g., NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Offshore wind or relevant heavy industry maintenance experience (marine, industrial, energy) beneficial.
- GWO BST and BTT (or ability to obtain) preferred.
- Full UK driving licence; comfortable working at height and offshore.
Core Competencies
- Strong safety mindset and situational awareness.
- Fault finding across electrical/mechanical systems; basic hydraulics exposure.
- Clear technical communication and team collaboration; fluent written records.
- Basic IT literacy (email, Office tools) and familiarity with CMMS (e.g., SAP).
