Mechanical Technician
Location: Merton, UK
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

A pioneering engineering firm at the forefront of the energy and chemicals sector is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to support operations at its Merton-based site. With involvement in next-generation energy projects, including hydrogen, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking and safety-driven organisation.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of mechanical equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation.

  • Perform planned and preventive maintenance using systems such as SAP.

  • Install new equipment in line with operational and safety standards.

  • Maintain compliance with safety systems including Permit to Work processes.

  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialist or large-scale maintenance tasks.

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, installations, and safety checks.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A hands-on background in mechanical engineering, with either a Level 4 Apprenticeship or equivalent work experience.

  • Proactive, disciplined, and safety-conscious with a strong attention to detail.

  • Ideally, an ATEX qualification and experience working in potentially explosive or hazardous environments.

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial, or technical sectors preferred.

  • Methodical approach to diagnostics and problem-solving.

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and English language skills.

  • Comfortable with MS Office and ideally familiar with SAP or other maintenance management systems.
