Mechanical Engineer – Nuclear Power Plant
Location: Abu Dhabi
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support maintenance and inspection activities in a nuclear power plant outage environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with mechanical valves and actuators, a strong understanding of safety and regulatory procedures, and the ability to lead technical teams in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities

Perform general mechanical maintenance, repair, and testing of mechanical equipment, valves, and actuators within a nuclear power plant environment.

Conduct inspection, testing, and maintenance of mechanical operated valves (MOV) and air operated valves (AOV).

Utilize testing and calibration equipment such as valve operation test systems to verify performance and compliance.

Apply knowledge of international standards and nuclear maintenance procedures to execute planned maintenance programs.

Support outage and shutdown activities, including troubleshooting and mechanical system restoration.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure maintenance tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

Supervise and guide mechanical technicians and maintenance personnel as required.

Ensure adherence to nuclear safety and work permit procedures at all times.

Prepare maintenance reports, schedules, and project documentation as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a nuclear power plant outage or equivalent heavy industrial maintenance environment.

At least 5 years of experience in MOV and AOV inspection, maintenance, and calibration.

Skilled in using mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.

Experience working with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric valve actuators.

Familiarity with calibration and testing systems such as VOTES or similar.

Strong understanding of nuclear or power plant safety protocols and work control processes.

Proven ability to lead maintenance teams and make technical decisions under pressure.

Competent in using MS Project or Primavera for planning and scheduling.

Excellent communication, leadership, and team coordination skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain composure during breakdown or shutdown maintenance.
Preferred Skills

Broad knowledge of valve operations, lifting procedures, and mechanical system design.

Previous experience in nuclear or power plant outage management.

Understanding of confined space and radiation safety procedures.

Certification or training in basic nuclear safety, permit-to-work, and high-radiation area safety protocols is desirable.
