Mechanical Maintenance Operator

Type: Full-time | Shift: 8am - 4pm, Monday to Friday
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Electrical Technician to join a reputable and well-established manufacturing organisation in the Manchester area. About the Role
You will play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and improving the reliability of electrical systems and mechanical equipment. This is a hands-on position that requires both reactive and planned maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Promote and adhere to a strong safety culture through daily practice and participation in safety programmes

Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and facilities

Carry out both preventative and breakdown maintenance tasks as scheduled

Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures

Monitor equipment performance to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards

Accurately document equipment history and maintenance activities using internal systems

Use a CMMS system (such as SAP) to record findings, track maintenance tasks, and follow process standards

Support initiatives aimed at improving safety, quality, cost performance, and reliability

Oversee and coordinate maintenance activities carried out by third-party contractors

Perform other mechanical and electrical duties as assigned by line management
Requirements

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an electrical or mechanical discipline

HNC or HND is desirable

Proven experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or process environment

Strong understanding of preventative and reactive maintenance

Familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP PM) is preferred

Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices

Good communication and team collaboration skills
