Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Fairfax, Virginia (DMV region)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer who wants more than just design work. This role offers the chance to take ownership of projects, build client relationships, and grow into a leadership position while contributing to some of the most impactful high-performance building projects in the United States.

If you've ever felt boxed in at a large firm, undervalued despite your skillset, or stuck at a smaller company without the projects or resources to accelerate your career, this is your next step. You will be trusted to grow quickly: shadow senior engineers, learn directly from them, then take the lead on projects yourself. Career progression here is based on performance, not job titles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver mechanical systems from concept through construction.
  • Manage projects beyond drawings, including design-build execution.
  • Collaborate directly with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Solve technical challenges and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to sustainable, high-performance projects that improve communities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 to 4+ years of HVAC/mechanical design experience (MEP background preferred).
  • EIT certification required; PE licence is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace, IES VE, Navisworks, and MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in client-facing situations.
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability, innovation, and professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED AP, CEM, or other sustainability-related certifications.
  • Experience in plumbing and fire protection system design.
  • Familiarity with design-build procurement.

What's in It for You

  • Clear career progression from Mechanical Engineer to Project Manager.
  • Opportunity to work on projects that create smarter, healthier, and more energy-efficient buildings.
  • The stability of a larger platform with the agility of a growth-focused team.
