Job Title: Material Supervisor

Location: Qatar

Overview

A large industrial project is seeking an experienced Material Supervisor to lead material control activities across engineering and construction work scopes. The role focuses on ensuring inventory accuracy, timely material availability, and smooth coordination between engineering, procurement, warehousing, and project teams.

This position requires strong leadership, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to oversee material controllers handling multiple project needs.

Key Responsibilities

Material Control & Inventory Management

  • Supervise material controllers in planning, monitoring and maintaining project material requirements.
  • Verify material requisitions from engineering and construction teams, assess warehouse availability, and adjust quantities where required.
  • Maintain up-to-date project inventory lists based on receipts and issues.
  • Oversee reservation and withdrawal of materials from warehouse stock, ensuring correct issuance to contractors.
  • Conduct material accounting for utilised materials and arrange the return of unused materials at project completion.
  • Coordinate logistics arrangements for deliveries to stores, contractor yards or construction sites.
  • Ensure correct identification, tagging and documentation of received materials, including traceability requirements.

Procurement & System Administration

  • Lead report generation and analysis using enterprise systems to support material control functions for engineering projects.

     

  • Review reservation lists to ensure timely replenishment and cost-effective inventory levels.

     

  • Follow up with procurement on outstanding requisitions, delivery schedules and discrepancy resolutions.
  • Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams on technical evaluations and material clarifications.
  • Work with warehouse and inspection teams to ensure proper storage, preservation and inspection of project materials.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensure adherence to relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Promote high standards of compliance and safe working practices within all material control activities.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare accurate inventory records, statements and material control reports.
  • Produce stock and non-stock reports as required.
  • Liaise with internal teams including engineering, procurement, supply chain, warehouse and inventory.
  • Communicate professionally with contractors, suppliers, service providers and relevant external parties.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical, Automation, Electrical or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Material Supervisor, including experience leading material controller teams within a petrochemical or similar industrial environment.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.

  • Strong organisation, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in IT and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems for material transactions and inventory control.
