Job Title: Maritime Import Expeditor

Location: Hoboken, Belgium (Very occasional travel to Brussels or Olen may be required)

Start Date: 20/04/2026 (Negotiable)
End Date: 31st December 2026 (Possible extension)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Contract Type: Temporary assignment (initial contract until end of year, with possibility for extension)

Department Overview:
The Maritime Forwarding team manages import and export shipments for multiple business units across the organization. The team's focus is on ensuring safe, compliant, cost-efficient, and timely transport flows-including hazardous goods and waste-while delivering high levels of service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Project Overview:
This role is part of the operational continuity plan in the Forwarding Department due to upcoming retirements. To retain knowledge and ensure ongoing service, the team is seeking a Maritime Import Forwarder keen to support a department in transition, with an eye towards long-term collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and follow up maritime import files from start to finish for multiple business units
- Verify transport documentation (BL, invoice, packing list, certificates of origin, etc.) for accuracy and completeness
- Liaise with shipping lines for releases and monitor terminal statuses, including free time, demurrage, and detention costs
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
- Organize post carriage transport; align storage or transshipment activities as needed (bulk, containers, breakbulk)
- Ensure goods arrive safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively, in line with relevant regulations (IMDG/ADR, waste streams)
- Prepare pre-payments and verify transport invoices as required
- Identify transport opportunities and suggest improvements for efficiency
- Maintain a clear overview while managing multiple files, always seeking solutions

Requirements:

Technical:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with Outlook, Teams, Word, and SharePoint
- Experience with transport software (IDP10) is a plus, not required
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Incoterms, transport/customs documentation, hazardous goods, and waste regulations
- Interest in inland navigation logistics or appetite to build this expertise
- Previous experience as an import expediteur or junior logistics professional (Juniors and recent graduates welcome)

- Strong problem-solving skills (explicit hiring priority)
- Customer-oriented, flexible, stress-resistant, and able to maintain a positive attitude
- Clear, professional communication skills at all organizational levels, including under pressure
- Able to maintain structure and overview while handling multiple cases
- Proactive, with a desire to lead or support process improvements

Languages:
- Fluent in Dutch
- Fluent in English
