Location: Hoboken, Belgium (Very occasional in Brussels or Olen can be requested)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Contract Type: Temporary assignment (initial contract until end of year) with possibility for extension

The role of Maritime Import Expeditor offers a unique opportunity to support a dedicated Forwarding Department during a period of transition and strategic review. Department Overview:
The Maritime Forwarding team oversees import and export shipments for multiple business units, ensuring safe, compliant, cost-efficient, and timely transport flows -including hazardous goods and waste shipments- while maintaining top-tier service for internal and external stakeholders.

Role Overview:
This assignment supports operational continuity as the department undergoes strategic changes, with two team members retiring soon. You will play a key part in maintaining service standards and facilitating knowledge transfer within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and follow up maritime import files from A to Z for various business units
- Collect and verify all transport documentation (BL, invoice, packing list, certificates of origin, etc.) for accuracy and completeness
- Request releases from shipping lines and monitor terminal statuses, free time, demurrage, and detention costs
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
- Organize onward (post carriage) transport and coordinate storage or transshipment (bulk, containers, breakbulk) as required
- Ensure incoming goods arrive safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively, following applicable regulations (IMDG/ADR, waste)
- Prepare pre-payments for shipping lines or forwarders, and verify transport invoices
- Identify new transport opportunities and drive efficiency improvements within the import process
- Remain solution-oriented and maintain structure while managing multiple import files simultaneously

Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent through experience
- Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint)
- Experience with transport software (IDP10) is advantageous
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Incoterms, transport & customs documentation, and regulations concerning hazardous goods and waste
- Affinity or interest in inland navigation logistics is a plus
- Prior experience as an import expediteur or junior logistics professional (junior or medior level), also open to school leavers in logistics

Language Requirements:
- Fluent in Dutch
- Fluent in English
