Position Overview:
Join a dynamic Maritime Forwarding team responsible for coordinating import and export shipments across multiple business units. The team ensures safe, compliant, cost-efficient, and timely transport flows-including hazardous goods and waste-while delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
This assignment supports an operational continuity plan as the team transitions through retirements and a strategic review, with the potential for long-term collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee maritime import files from start to finish for various business units
- Collect and verify all transport documentation (BL, invoice, packing list, certificates of origin, etc.) for completeness and accuracy
- Request releases from shipping lines and monitor terminal statuses, along with free time, demurrage, and detention costs
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational flow
- Organize onward (post carriage) transport and align storage or transshipment activities where needed (bulk, containers, breakbulk)
- Ensure incoming goods arrive safely, compliantly, and cost efficiently, in line with IMDG/ADR and waste regulations
- Prepare pre-payments to shipping lines or forwarders as required and verify transport invoices
- Identify new transport opportunities and continuously seek efficiency improvements within the import process
- Maintain an overview and stay solution-oriented while handling multiple import files simultaneously
Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint)
- Experience with transport software such as IDP10 is a plus, not a requirement
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn Incoterms, transport & customs documentation, and regulations regarding hazardous goods and waste streams
- Affinity with inland navigation logistics or willingness to grow expertise in this area
- Prior experience as an import expediteur or junior logistics professional (junior or mid-level; open to recent graduates in logistics)
