Kintec are currently partnered with a leading multinational materials technology company. They are currently recruiting for Maritime Import Expeditor to be based in Hoboken, Belgium.

Department description and responsibilities?

The Maritime Forwarding team coordinates import and export shipments for various Client business units. The team ensures safe, compliant, cost-efficient, and timely transport flows - including hazardous goods and waste shipments - while maintaining a high level of service toward internal and external stakeholders.

Project description:

This assignment is part of an operational continuity plan within the Forwarding Department. Two colleagues will retire in the coming months. To ensure knowledge retention and service continuity, the team is looking for a Maritime Import Forwarder.

The role supports a temporary setup during an ongoing strategic review, with the ambition for potential long-term collaboration.

Primary Tasks and responsibilities

- Manage and follow up maritime import files from A to Z for multiple client business units

- Collect and verify all transport documentation (BL, invoice, packing list, certificates of origin, ...) for accuracy and completeness

- Request releases from shipping lines and monitor terminal statuses, free time, demurrage, and detention costs

- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operational flow

- Organize onward (post carriage) transport and align storage or transshipment activities when needed (bulk, containers, breakbulk)

- Ensure incoming goods arrive safely, compliantly, and cost efficiently, in line with IMDG/ADR and waste regulations

- Prepare pre payments to shipping lines or forwarders when required and verify transport invoices

- Identify new transport opportunities and continuously seek efficiency improvements within the import process

- Maintain overview and remain solution oriented while handling multiple import files simultaneously - key requirement from manager (problem solving mindset)

Technical profile requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent through experience

- Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint)

- Experience with transport software IDP10 is considered a plus, not a requirement

- Knowledge of or willingness to learn Incoterms, transport & customs documentation, and regulations concerning hazardous goods and waste streams

- Affinity with inland navigation logistics or willingness to expand knowledge in this domain

- Prior experience as an import expediteur or junior logistics professional. (junior or medior level; also open for school leavers in logistics)

- Clear and professional communication skills across different levels of the organization, even under pressure or during unexpected changes

- Ability to maintain overview and structure while managing multiple simultaneous import cases

- Proactive mindset and eagerness to lead or support improvement initiatives
