Department and Role Overview:
Join an established international materials technology organization as part of their Maritime Forwarding team. This department oversees the coordination of import and export shipments for multiple business units, ensuring compliance, safety, cost efficiency, and timely delivery-including hazardous materials and waste streams. This opportunity arises as part of a business continuity plan due to upcoming retirements in the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and follow up export files from start to finish for various business units.
- Prepare, collect, and verify all required transport documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Organize maritime export transport and coordinate storage or transshipment when needed.
- Ensure goods arrive at their destination safely, in compliance with IMDG/ADR requirements and waste regulations, and in a cost-efficient manner.
- Gather information on new transport opportunities and propose potential process improvements.
- Maintain a clear overview and manage multiple export files simultaneously, with an emphasis on problem-solving.
Requirements:
Technical:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint).
- Experience with transport software (e.g., Stream ILS) is a plus, not a requirement.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Incoterms, transport and customs documentation, and regulations regarding hazardous goods/waste.
- Prior experience as an expediter or junior logistics professional (open to recent logistics graduates).
Non-Technical:
- Strong problem-solving skills (key priority).
- Flexible, customer-oriented, and stress-resistant attitude.
- Clear, professional communication skills across all levels, especially in fast-changing situations.
- Positive, proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to maintain structure and an overview when managing multiple files.
