Position Title: Manager of Engineering
Location: Doha, Qatar
Position Description
The Manager of Engineering reports to the Group Director of Engineering Services and is responsible for providing technical leadership and management oversight to ensure high-quality engineering deliverables. This role oversees engineering teams, develops departmental initiatives, advances tools and capabilities, identifies training needs, manages manpower needs, assists in proposal development, and engages in project reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop departmental goals and key initiatives
- Enhance departmental tools and capabilities
- Provide technical recommendations for new tools, software, and technical training
- Review and update departmental procedures and work instructions
- Identify training and development needs within the department
- Assign and balance manpower needs between projects
- Forecast future manpower needs based on projected workload
- Assist in proposal development, including evaluating project needs and preparing deliverable lists
- Develop and validate engineering manhour estimates, staffing plans, and resource requirements for conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering phases
- Provide technical input for cost, schedule, and execution strategies during proposals and bids
- Participate in business development and client meetings
- Serve as a senior technical authority in client meetings, technical clarifications, and engineering review sessions
- Conduct employee performance reviews and actively promote career development
- Provide management oversight of overall engineering deliverables, including calculations, equipment specifications, and drawings
- Oversee compliance with relevant codes, standards, and corporate engineering procedures
- Coordinate engineering execution across multiple international offices to ensure consistency in standards and quality
- Support the growth and capability development of the engineering team in Doha
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met within all projects
Qualifications
- 15+ years of engineering experience
- In-depth knowledge of industry design codes and standards, particularly for pipeline design
- Proficiency in engineering software
- Proven experience in conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering stages
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Field experience with pipeline routing and construction
- Experience working with NOCs and PMC/EPCM organizations in the Middle East & Africa
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related engineering field (Advanced Degree preferred)
- Hold a Qatar Engineering license (MME/MMUP/UPDA)
