Maintenance Support Instrument & Controls Engineer
Location: Qatar (Onshore with offshore support)
Contract Duration: 2 years from mobilisation, renewable based on performance and business needs
Work Schedule: 5 days per week, 8–10 hours per day

The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Maintenance Support Instrument & Controls Engineer to join a leading energy operator on a large-scale gas processing facility. This role plays a key part in improving asset reliability, supporting maintenance and operations, and managing obsolescence across complex control and instrumentation systems.

You’ll work across both onshore and offshore assets, providing engineering expertise to troubleshoot failures, evaluate upgrades, and support long-term reliability strategies. If you have deep domain knowledge in I&C systems, experience with obsolescence management, and thrive in multidisciplinary teams—this role could be a strong fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for reliability improvements, cost optimisation, and failure investigations

  • Review and recommend spare parts strategies, including capital spares and critical inventories

  • Conduct engineering reviews of obsolete instrumentation and propose upgrade paths

  • Evaluate spare part packages for new projects including control systems, field instruments, analysers, F&G systems, and skids

  • Support technical bid evaluations (TBE) and engineering feasibility studies (eMOCs)

  • Lead obsolescence assessments for key control platforms (e.g. Triconex, DeltaV, Invensys, PLCs)

  • Review data sheets, specifications, system drawings, architecture, and P&IDs

  • Collaborate with vendors and internal departments (Maintenance, Operations, Supply, Engineering)

  • Support offshore instrumentation activities as needed

  • Lead governance activities around instrumentation data in SAP (MDG - material creation, changes, deletions)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control or Electronics Engineering

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in oil & gas or petrochemical environments

  • Strong experience in engineering, plant construction, commissioning, and startup

  • Expertise in obsolescence management and upgrades of legacy systems and valves

  • Experience in instrumentation for offshore environments

  • Familiarity with SAP, Microsoft Office, and industrial data governance practices

  • Able to work independently on complex tasks across multiple departments

  • Comfortable liaising with vendors, manufacturers, and cross-functional teams

  • Adaptable to a multicultural and multidisciplinary working environment
