We are seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Maintenance Engineer to oversee all maintenance activities within our clients new facility. This role will be based in Boden. As the sole engineer on-site, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure. This role demands a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, swift response to breakdowns, and continuous improvement of equipment and processes. CLIENT will support the equipment commissioning during plant start-up and training will be provided across Europe within existing CLIENT facilities. Travel will be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Perform reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance on industrial machinery, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, minimizing downtime and ensuring production continuity.
  • Conduct routine inspections, servicing, and testing of critical plant equipment.
  • Maintain boilers, compressors, conveyors, motors, pumps, and hydraulics as required.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health & safety regulations and industry standards.

Operational Support:

  • Support production by quickly addressing any maintenance-related issues to minimize operational disruption.
  • Collaborate with operators to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of necessary components, ensuring goods received are documented.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work completed, parts used, and downtime logged.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out risk assessments and ensure safety procedures are always followed.
  • Ensure appropriate permits and authorisations to work are in place to cover contractors working on site, making sure regular supervision is given and permit signoffs are completed.

Communication:

  • Actively supports the Management daily operations, taking part in relevant meetings.
  • Provide accurate recording, reporting, documentation and handovers.
  • Contribute to root cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with co-workers across different locations and time zones.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements to reduce breakdowns and maintenance costs.
  • Recommend and lead small engineering projects.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry technology and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a heavy industrial environment (e.g., manufacturing, steel, foundry, mining, power generation).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC fault-finding (basic programming is desirable).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
