Lifting Specialist

Location: Qatar (90% Onshore, 10% Offshore)

Contract Type: Residential, 36-month renewable contract

Work Schedule: 10 hours/day, 6 days/week (26 days/month)

Visa Requirements: Sponsorship available for eligible international applicants

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Lifting Specialist to join a high-performing project team delivering a major offshore energy development in Qatar. This is a key site-based role involving oversight of all lifting operations, procedures, and equipment-ensuring activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and validate lifting operations to ensure compliance with project, regulatory, and safety requirements
  • Monitor contractor lifting activities across onshore yards and offshore facilities
  • Review and approve lifting documentation, including plans, calculations, certificates, and method statements
  • Conduct equipment inspections and audits, including subcontractor assets
  • Participate in risk assessments, job safety analyses, and lifting incident investigations
  • Coordinate with construction teams, HSE, and other stakeholders to ensure readiness and alignment
  • Provide technical assurance on rigging, crane types, dynamic load reviews, and barge stability where applicable
  • Ensure all lifting personnel and operations meet competency and certification standards
  • Support the safe execution of complex and critical lifts, including subsea and offshore works
  • Represent the lifting discipline during audits, pre-job meetings, and SIMOPS planning sessions

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in engineering or related technical field
  • At least 8 years' experience in lifting operations, supervision, and planning in major oil & gas or energy infrastructure projects
  • Proven field-based experience in heavy lifting, crane operations, and complex lifting preparation
  • Solid understanding of international lifting codes and standards (e.g. LOLER, API, DNV, LEEA, BS, IMCA)
  • Experience with both onshore and offshore lifting equipment, including certification and maintenance standards
  • Familiar with rigging calculations, lift dynamics, barge stability, and technical assessments
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multicultural teams
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Preferred:

  • Experience in both fabrication yard and offshore platform environments
  • Familiarity with DNV-ST-N001 and IMCA LR006 standards
  • Prior experience overseeing third-party lifting contractors and audits
