Lifting Manager

Location: Qatar
Contract: 6–11 months (temporary, with potential extension)
Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off, 8–10 hours per day

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lifting Manager to oversee safe and efficient lifting operations across offshore and onshore projects in Qatar. This role requires a qualified Appointed Person with strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and proven experience managing critical and complex lifting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review lift plans for routine, complex, and critical lifts in line with international standards (LOLER, BS 7121).

  • Conduct risk assessments and method statements for lifting operations.

  • Act as the designated Appointed Person for lifting activities, ensuring all legal and procedural requirements are met.

  • Liaise with crane operators, riggers, supervisors, and third-party vendors to coordinate lifts.

  • Approve and sign lifting plans and permits to work (PTW).

  • Ensure all lifting equipment is certified, inspected, and fit for purpose.

  • Lead toolbox talks and pre-lift briefings to communicate risks and control measures.

  • Maintain accurate records of lifting operations, certifications, and personnel competencies.

  • Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances.

  • Provide mentorship and training support to rigging and lifting teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised qualification as an Appointed Person (Lifting Operations).

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy lifting, ideally in offshore oil & gas or large-scale construction.

  • Strong track record in planning and executing critical lifts.

  • Offshore survival and medical certification (valid).

  • In-depth knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging practices, and international safety standards.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of lifting engineering principles.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.

  • Proficiency with lift planning software and MS Office.

  • Ability to work under pressure in demanding environments.

  • High attention to detail and safety-focused mindset.
