LIFTING ENGINEER
Location: Doha, Qatar
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract
Contract Duration: 1 June 2026 to 31 December 2029
A major energy operator is seeking an experienced Lifting Engineer to support offshore construction and installation activities on large-scale oil and gas developments. The role will focus on overseeing heavy lifting operations, non-routine lifts, and complex offshore installations, ensuring all work is executed safely and in compliance with approved engineering standards.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-value offshore engineering projects involving platform installations, subsea infrastructure, and complex construction activities within a technically demanding environment.
Responsibilities

Manage offshore heavy lifting and non-routine lifting operations for topsides, jackets, and subsea installations

Oversee installation activities for pipelines, umbilicals, skids, tie-in spools, risers, and J-tubes

Ensure all lifting and installation activities are carried out in accordance with approved scope of work, engineering designs, drawings, and safety standards

Provide technical guidance to contractors during offshore lifting and installation activities

Review and approve contractor lifting plans, certificates, schedules, procedures, and method statements

Review and comment on contractor construction engineering documentation and deliverables

Participate in engineering and project workshops including constructability reviews, SIMOPS, schedule risk analysis, model reviews, and lifting plan reviews

Coordinate lifting activities with internal project teams, operations teams, and external contractors

Monitor contractor performance including manpower deployment, equipment usage, and project progress

Identify potential project risks and construction challenges and recommend mitigation measures

Maintain daily records of construction progress and highlight any deviations or issues

Ensure contractors comply with work permit requirements and project safety conditions

Liaise with engineering disciplines during design, procurement, and construction phases

Coordinate with third-party agencies and project stakeholders on lifting and installation matters

Support the development and improvement of engineering standards, procedures, and technical guidelines
Requirements

BSc, Higher National Diploma, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from a recognized institution

Additional training or certification in safety, quality control, or construction practices is advantageous

Minimum 10 to 12 years of experience in offshore oil and gas construction projects

Proven experience coordinating and supervising offshore heavy lifting and complex installation activities

Experience working on large-scale engineering, procurement, installation, and construction projects

Strong ability to review and approve contractor deliverables including lifting plans and engineering documentation

Good understanding of offshore construction standards, safety practices, and quality control requirements

Ability to review method statements, inspection and test plans, construction schedules, and technical drawings

Strong communication and coordination skills within multi-disciplinary and multicultural project teams

Computer literate with the ability to work with engineering documentation and project management systems

Strong written and spoken English communication skills
