Process Engineering Section Manager - Petrochemicals

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Process Engineer to oversee petrochemical process operations and engineering support for multiple production units. This senior role is responsible for managing technical teams, driving operational excellence, and supporting continuous improvement across petrochemical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and develop subordinates within the Process Engineering Section, including assigning tasks, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and reviewing results.
- Act as a mentor and coach, supporting training, career development, and performance management.
- Develop and implement process engineering strategies and plans in coordination with relevant departments.
- Ensure strategies are updated in alignment with organisational goals and industry best practices.
- Oversee technical support for petrochemical operating plants, ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Lead plant performance testing, troubleshooting, and process optimisation activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process enhancement studies, catalyst evaluations, and technology implementation.
- Manage technical service agreements and coordinate with licensors, vendors, and consultants.
- Oversee feasibility studies and plant modifications to enhance process safety and environmental compliance.
- Direct and approve detailed process engineering designs and ensure timely project delivery through proactive management.
- Provide input to business development and research programmes; prepare Statements of Requirements and CAPEX submissions for major projects.
- Manage budgets for studies and long-term development initiatives.
- Stay updated with the latest petrochemical technologies and represent the organisation in relevant technical forums.
- Oversee all process engineering tendering and contracting activities, ensuring compliance and resolving technical issues as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Extensive experience in process engineering within petrochemical or refinery operations.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
- Proven track record in process optimisation, plant performance enhancement, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project coordination skills.
- Familiarity with HSEQ standards and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
