Lead of Telecom Centre of Excellence

We are seeking a Lead for the Telecom Centre of Excellence to manage and guide IT and telecom technical teams, ensuring the successful delivery of services and projects across the organisation. This role involves both internal initiatives and technical support for external projects, driving compliance with service delivery standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the Telecom Centre of Excellence, ensuring service levels, policies, and procedures are maintained.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of small to medium-scale telecom projects, managing risks, issues, and stakeholder engagement throughout all project phases.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of telecom hardware and software systems, including investigation, analysis, specification, design, construction, testing, maintenance, upgrades, and migration.
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to colleagues on operational procedures and best practices.
  • Ensure effective and efficient execution of tasks to meet agreed service levels or operational requirements.
  • Investigate operational issues, prepare reports, and propose improvements to systems and procedures.
  • Participate in reviews of telecom system performance, providing technical advice and planning amendments to enhance operations.
  • Use infrastructure management tools to monitor system load, performance, and statistics.
  • Plan and implement installation and maintenance of telecom components, following safety and security procedures.
  • Monitor and report on telecom expenditure, providing early warnings of budget variances.
  • Conduct formal reviews of activities, processes, and services, evaluating internal controls and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, or Information Systems.

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in telecommunications and network fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of global IT/Telecoms competency frameworks, national and international standards.
  • Extensive experience in project and programme management within telecoms or IT, including complex, multi-vendor international projects.
  • Experience in risk management, security, and governance within telecom operations.
  • Proven track record of managing portfolios of telecom projects and services.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to drive innovation, change, and business process improvement.
