The Opportunity
A leading energy operator is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its growing team, playing a key role in the optimisation, maintenance, and long-term performance of mechanical assets across its portfolio.
This position offers the chance to work on a diverse range of asset optimisation projects, combining strategic thinking with hands-on engineering expertise to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety across the full asset lifecycle. You’ll be directly contributing to the development of industry-leading maintenance strategies while helping to shape future growth in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver mechanical asset optimisation projects, supporting both planned and unplanned outages across the company’s energy infrastructure.

Contribute to the development and implementation of mechanical maintenance strategies, risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.

Ensure full legal compliance and operational excellence, particularly in line with Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and relevant standards including SAFed.

Support development of long-term strategic spares holding policies, stock management processes, and procurement plans for mechanical assets.

Provide technical expertise to support mechanical and boiler maintenance contract negotiations, contractor performance reviews, and vendor management.

Collaborate closely with Operations & Maintenance teams across the business to foster a culture of teamwork, shared learning, and continuous improvement.

Promote and embed a strong process safety culture across the organisation.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
-
Relevant degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Significant experience working with boilers and auxiliary plant, ideally within the power generation and/or heat generation sectors.

Strong knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR), SAFed guidelines, and mechanical asset compliance requirements.

Demonstrated ability to act as a subject matter expert on mechanical engineering issues across multiple sites and projects.

Experience with District Heating Networks.

Hands-on knowledge of Industrial / Commercial Grade Heat Pumps.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
