Lead Data Management Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Contract Duration: Fixed Term Direct - 24 months

About the Role

A senior opportunity has opened for a Lead Data Management Engineer to join a globally active project delivery team. This role will oversee information and data management activities across multiple large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing policy, team leadership, system standardisation, and performance monitoring for a broad scope that includes document control, engineering data systems, and CMMS database development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a department of 80+ information management professionals across global projects.
  • Define and implement company-wide policies, standards, and governance for data and document management.
  • Oversee execution of data management, document control, engineering design systems, and CMMS database build activities.
  • Support tender and proposal efforts by contributing to IM scope and resource planning.
  • Ensure alignment of project IM activities with corporate standards and objectives.
  • Establish and track KPIs, performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve challenges and deliver integrated data solutions.
  • Lead the selection and deployment of tools, software platforms, and technologies for data handling and reporting.
  • Manage training, competency development, and career progression plans for IM staff.
  • Ensure full compliance with industry best practices, regulations, and internal procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in information and data management in engineering or energy sectors.
  • Experience overseeing data integrity, document control, design system tools, and CMMS builds.
  • Proven leadership experience managing large technical teams (50+ personnel).
  • Familiarity with engineering lifecycle information systems and standards.
  • Excellent communication and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in developing and tracking IM metrics, dashboards, and performance indicators.
  • Strong knowledge of IM tools, ERP systems, and database applications.
