Job Title: Lead Cost Engineer

Location: Boden, Sweden

Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Overview:
An exciting opportunity awaits for a Lead Cost Engineer to join a major greenfield industrial plant project in Northern Sweden, producing environmentally sustainable steel with drastically reduced CO₂ emissions. You will play a key role in supporting the construction of a state-of-the-art facility, driving effective cost management and ensuring project objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage costs for major project areas, ensuring estimates align with overall project goals. Provide ongoing support to EPCM Contractors and assist in resolving project challenges.
- Coordinate monthly meetings with EPCM contractors to review Cost Reports, cashflows, change management processes, and establish effective cost forecasting from construction contractors and supply vendors.
- Interface with stakeholders, including finance and accounting, to prepare written cost analyses and timely, accurate project cost status reports.
- Collaborate with Area Managers on monthly cost review meetings and work with the cost and finance teams to compile monthly internal reports.
- Support the Head of Project Services by preparing and delivering written and oral presentations to stakeholders.
- Stay informed on project progress to identify any adverse trends, problem areas, or emerging opportunities, participating proactively in project management.

Requirements:
- 10-15 years of experience in cost control for major industrial projects, ideally within an EPCM contracting context.
- Thorough understanding of project delivery phases and cost management procedures.
- Proficient in cost engineering, estimating, and planning practices as outlined by AACE and PMI standards.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working with engineering, procurement, construction, safety, quality, finance, planning, and document control teams.
- Familiarity with cost control software, value engineering scenarios, and the ability to implement effective reporting.
- Demonstrated expertise in estimating techniques, particularly overseeing major project estimate development and reviews.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to promote effective teamwork.
- Proactive approach to anticipating challenges and working collaboratively with stakeholders, EPCMs, and third-party suppliers.
