Position Title: Lead Control Systems Engineer
Location: United Kingdom (Hybrid or Remote Options Considered)
Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)
Duration: 8 Months
Role Purpose:
Support the FEED and detailed design phase of a major fertilizer production facility. The Lead Control Systems Engineer will lead instrumentation and control design activities, ensuring seamless system integration and compliance with client specifications. The role requires strong package engineering experience and cross-functional collaboration across engineering disciplines and vendors.
Key Accountabilities:

Lead the development and review of I&C engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, instrument lists, specifications, and data sheets.

Design and specify control systems utilizing DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, and FGS architectures.

Prepare control system package specifications and datasheets for procurement.

Interface with clients, vendors, and other internal disciplines to ensure proper integration and coordination.

Contribute to and support SIL, LOPA, and HAZOP safety studies.

Prepare technical requisitions, evaluate bids, and support vendor selection.

Generate I/O lists and specify instruments and control elements required for safe and efficient operation.

Coordinate closely with the electrical team on MCC and power supply integration.

Collaborate with multiple engineering centers globally.

Provide input and technical leadership on brownfield modifications and integration with existing onshore infrastructure.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
-
Minimum 10 years' experience in instrumentation and control systems design.

Proven experience with FEED and detailed engineering project stages.

Experience in brownfield projects, preferably in onshore facilities.

Prior involvement in Middle East engineering projects is advantageous.

Chemical industry background, especially fertilizer or ammonia, is preferred.

Strong knowledge of process control philosophies and industry safety standards.

Ability to manage and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering deliverables.

Effective communicator with strong stakeholder engagement and technical reporting skills.

Proficiency in using industry design and documentation tools.
Note: This is an outside IR35 contract opportunity. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
