Control Systems Engineer / Senior Control Systems Engineer

Permanent | Manchester (Hybrid)

A large process manufacturing site in the North West is seeking Control Systems Engineers at both Engineer and Senior level. These roles support plant reliability, drive system improvements, and contribute to long-term automation strategies across UK and European facilities. Ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on problem solving, design work, and influencing plant performance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver design, implementation and testing of control system changes linked to equipment upgrades, capacity increases, new product introductions and wider process improvements.

  • Act as a key troubleshooter, providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams.

  • Carry out system analysis, improvement studies, scoping work and early design activities; collaborate with external engineering partners where required.

  • Take an active and visible role in plant safety initiatives and promote safe operating practices.

  • Oversee control system design, operability and maintainability across North West and EU manufacturing sites.

  • Develop, maintain and optimise control system implementations, including operational and maintenance procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Strong background in industrial control systems within chemical, petrochemical, refining or similar process environments.

  • Experience supporting operations with troubleshooting and system optimisation.

  • Ability to deliver design work, analyse system requirements and support modernisation programmes.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, safety-focused approach.

  • Knowledge of widely used industrial automation platforms is advantageous.
