HSE/Environmental Officer - Permanent - Project-Based
We are looking for an experienced HSE/Environmental Officer to join our team and ensure the safety, health, and environmental compliance on-site. This role will work under the guidance of the Senior HSE Officer/HSE Engineer and will be crucial in ensuring adherence to HSE policies and promoting safety awareness across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement HSE Policies: Ensure that all employees consistently apply and implement the company's HSE policies and procedures.
- HSE Awareness: Promote safety awareness to field personnel and encourage safe working practices.
- Onsite Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections, including working environments, equipment, vehicles, and facilities to ensure compliance with HSE Manual and project-specific HSE standards.
- HSE Reporting: Identify and report any HSE Observations or Life-Saving Rules (LSR) violations, and take corrective action when necessary.
- HSE Inductions: Carry out effective HSE induction programs for all personnel, ensuring full awareness of HSE requirements and standards.
- Emergency Response: Coordinate with site management to ensure all emergency procedures are up-to-date and that all personnel understand their roles in an emergency. Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure optimal preparedness.
- Incident Investigation: Participate in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Equipment Monitoring: Ensure the maintenance and inspection of life-saving and fire-fighting equipment and that all emergency equipment is in proper working condition.
- Toolbox Talks: Facilitate internal HSE meetings and conduct toolbox talks to promote ongoing safety awareness on-site.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports and statistics for review and further action by senior colleagues.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- Diploma in a related field or equivalent.
- Holder of NEBOSH / IOSH Diploma or an equivalent internationally recognized HSE certification is preferable.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in similar industries, with a focus on HSE roles.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong supervisory potential and the ability to manage and guide teams.
- Good written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic would be advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage HSE activities effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a multinational, multicultural work environment.
