An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Heavy Lifting and Rigging Supervisor / Appointed Person to support a major green energy infrastructure project in the Netherlands. The role will be critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of heavy lifting operations on a high-profile green hydrogen production facility.
Job Description
The Heavy Lifting and Rigging Supervisor will provide technical expertise, supervision, and coordination for all lifting and rigging operations on-site. The role involves ensuring safety standards are maintained, supporting the managing contractor, reviewing lifting plans, and overseeing the execution of complex lifting activities. This is a safety-critical role bridging construction and EHS functions.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical supervision, guidance, and mentoring to the managing contractor's construction team.

Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safety remains the highest priority for all parties.

Support communication, teamwork, and collaboration across teams and contractors.

Assist in developing strategies to enhance contractor performance and coordination.

Review and appraise method statements and risk assessments for technical integrity and safety compliance.

Conduct weekly HSE inspection audits.

Monitor permit compliance and adherence to safe work plans.

Observe and monitor all construction activities across disciplines, assisting in resolving interface coordination issues.

Ensure compliance with project quality standards by monitoring contractors' Inspection and Test Plans.

Coordinate interfaces between Vendor Representatives and contractors.

Attend daily and weekly coordination meetings.

Monitor contractors' progress and productivity reporting.

Provide daily assessments of works and contractor performance to construction management.

Review and approve heavy lifting and transportation plans.

Supervise daily lifting and rigging activities across all construction contractors.

Coordinate daily activities of the heavy lifting contractor.

Verify contractors are using the latest drawings, specifications, and weight data.

Contribute to constructability reviews related to heavy lifting and transportation.

Prepare daily reports of activities performed, including Appointed Person tasks.

Ensure safe execution of all lifting and rigging operations, in alignment with project EHS standards.

Inspect cranes and lifting arrangements for compliance with safety and certification requirements.
Certification Requirements

VCA-VOL Certificate (Candidates without this must complete the required one-week training before starting.)
