Position Title: Head of Trade Finance

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Trade Finance to lead and develop the trade finance function within a major manufacturing or steel-sector organisation. This senior role involves managing complex trade finance operations, building client relationships, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with international banking and trade regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and execute strategic plans for trade finance to achieve financial and operational objectives.

Oversee day-to-day trade finance operations including letters of credit, guarantees, standby letters of credit, advance payments, and documentary collections.

Develop and maintain strong client and supplier relationships, providing tailored trade finance solutions.

Conduct thorough risk assessments related to steel market dynamics and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Ensure compliance with international trade finance rules and regulations such as UCP 600, ISBP, URDG, Incoterms 2020, and steel-specific trade compliance.

Analyse financial viability of trade finance deals and creditworthiness of counterparties.

Manage documentation, contracts, and reporting related to trade finance activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimise trade finance processes and reduce financing costs.

Lead and mentor a team of trade finance professionals, fostering professional growth and performance excellence.

Identify and drive process improvements to enhance trade finance operations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in trade finance, ideally within manufacturing, steel, or a related industry.

Proven track record in managing trade finance operations and teams.

Advanced knowledge of:

Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP 600)

International Standard Banking Practices (ISBP)

Incoterms 2020

Strong understanding of steel market dynamics, trade finance products, and international trade regulations.

Excellent strategic planning, risk management, and client relationship skills.

Professional certifications such as CTFP, CITF, CDCS are a strong advantage.
