Head of SHES – Process (Health, Safety, Environment, and Security)
Location: Doha, Qatar
Contract Duration: 36 Months
Schedule: 10 Hours per Day | 6 Days per Week | 26 Days per Month
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity for an experienced SHES leader to join a major onshore energy project. You will be responsible for directing and managing safety, health, environment, and security efforts across all work sites within a defined process area. This is a pivotal role within a high-profile engineering and construction team, aimed at ensuring world-class safety performance from the earliest stages of project execution.
You’ll serve as the key interface between project management and contractor teams for SHES matters, championing compliance and cultivating a proactive safety culture throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide strong SHES leadership and guidance to the Project Management Team and EPC contractor personnel across the assigned site area.

Lead a team of SHES professionals and specialists to deliver consistent oversight and support to ongoing site activities.

Drive a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance in accordance with project standards.

Monitor contractor SHES performance, identify trends and issues, and ensure timely resolution of non-conformities.

Act as a primary SHES advisor to project stakeholders, facilitating risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis processes.

Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of SHES policies, procedures, and management systems.

Support and verify site compliance with all SHES-related legal and procedural requirements.

Promote effective communication of SHES expectations, responsibilities, and performance measures at all levels of the project team.

Oversee contractor and vendor alignment with project SHES standards and conduct field-based verifications.

Participate in audits, inspections, emergency drills, and performance reviews.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field.

Certification as a Root Cause Analysis Team Leader (e.g., TapRoot or equivalent).

Minimum 10 years’ SHES experience in the oil and gas sector, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Background working with major contractors, service providers, or owner-side project teams in large-scale energy projects.

Strong familiarity with SHES management systems and global industry safety practices.

Experience with both greenfield and brownfield operations is desirable.

Proven track record of driving compliance, improving safety performance, and influencing multi-disciplinary teams.
