Job Title: Head of Contracts 
Location: Qatar
Contract Type: 36-month contract

Overview
We are supporting a leading international energy operator in the search for a Head of Contracts to lead commercial and contractual activities on a major capital project. This is a senior leadership role overseeing multi-billion EPC contracts, driving value, managing risk, and ensuring successful project delivery.

You will lead a team of contracts professionals while shaping contract strategy, supporting complex negotiations, and contributing to the development of best-in-class contract management practices across large-scale projects.

The Role
You will take full ownership of post-award contract strategy and execution, including:

  • Leading the contract management team responsible for major EPC contracts
  • Providing commercial direction across all post-award contract activities through to close-out
  • Driving value protection strategies and overseeing change order management
  • Leading claims prevention, evaluation, and dispute resolution activities
  • Developing and implementing contract management strategies aligned with project objectives
  • Coordinating contractual responses and ensuring consistency across project interfaces
  • Building strong relationships with project leadership, legal, supply chain, and risk functions
  • Supporting senior management with commercial insights, reporting, and strategic recommendations
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting digital transformation across project delivery
  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing contract and procurement professionals

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in major EPC or energy infrastructure projects in a senior contracts or commercial leadership role
  • Strong experience managing multi-billion, lump sum EPC contracts (post-award phase)
  • Background in project management, construction, or project controls is advantageous
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing complex stakeholder environments
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage risk and deliver value
