Job Title: Head of Construction

Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced construction leader to take ownership of high-profile industrial projects at multiple plant sites. As Head of Construction, you will oversee the successful execution of all construction activities-ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, quality, and safety standards. You'll work closely with internal leadership and external partners to deliver technically complex, strategically important builds that drive the business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Project Management

  • Lead the delivery of construction projects across multiple plant sites, aligning with technical specifications, project timelines, and allocated budgets.
  • Supervise daily construction operations and coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to maintain performance and standards.
  • Monitor and report on construction progress through weekly and monthly updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Host and lead meetings with stakeholders, including technical, commercial, and contractual parties.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure full compliance with company standards, construction laws, and health and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot on-site technical and managerial issues to minimise disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation across all phases of the construction lifecycle.

Strategic and Business Support

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute strategic construction initiatives in line with wider business goals.
  • Build and lead a high-performing construction team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships.

Leadership and Organisational Development

  • Translate divisional strategy into executable plans within the construction function.
  • Set clear team goals, monitor performance, and drive professional development.
  • Champion workforce planning, training, and succession efforts to ensure business continuity.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Plan and manage the department budget, tracking expenditure and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement internal processes, systems, and policies to improve efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in large-scale construction projects, including 4+ years in senior leadership or management roles.
  • Strong leadership, people management, and team development skills.
  • Proven experience in construction operations within industrial, energy, or utilities sectors.
  • Experience working across multiple geographies or multicultural environments is advantageous.

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with the power and water sectors, including trends and technologies.
  • Proficiency in English is essential; Arabic is an advantage.
  • Experience working within the GCC is preferred.
