Head of Commissioning (Inlet.)

Overview
We are supporting a major onshore energy infrastructure development in the Middle East and are seeking an experienced Head of Commissioning to lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for large-scale process facilities.

This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for contractor delivery, technical assurance, planning, system completion, and safe execution through to start-up. The position offers long-term project exposure on a high-profile onshore development.

Work Assignment Details

  • Location: Qatar Onshore

  • Worksite: Onshore office and site-based environment

  • Assignment term: 36 months

  • Work schedule: 8 to 10 hours per day

  • Working pattern: 6 days per week, approximately 26 days per month

  • Leave rotation: 12 weeks on, 2 weeks off

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical oversight of all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities delivered by EPC contractors

  • Ensure safe and compliant execution across all disciplines including process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, telecom, and HVAC

  • Steward contractor planning, scheduling, systemization, completions, documentation, and reporting activities

  • Manage contractor resources, competencies, procedures, and execution strategies to meet project milestones

  • Maintain close coordination with engineering, construction, quality, safety, and operations teams

  • Ensure commissioning activities align with project specifications, objectives, and technical standards

  • Monitor progress against schedule, identify risks, and implement recovery plans where required

  • Review and validate commissioning procedures, specifications, and work packs

  • Support audits, witnessing, troubleshooting, and technical resolution during execution

  • Capture lessons learned and ensure knowledge sharing to support future project phases

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in commissioning leadership roles within large industrial or energy projects

  • Proven commissioning planning and execution experience on LNG liquefaction or comparable process facilities

  • At least 2 years experience in a supervisory or lead role overseeing contractors or multi-discipline teams

  • Strong expertise in systemization, completions management, and development of pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures

  • Hands-on experience commissioning large rotating equipment, compressors, turbines, pumps, piping systems, electrical and instrumentation systems, and utility systems

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence large, multi-discipline teams in complex project environments

  • Effective stakeholder engagement and interface management skills

  • Proficiency with standard office software tools
