Handover Lead (LQ)
Location: China, Qingdao – Onshore (70%), Offshore (30%)
Work Schedule: 6 days per week, 10 hours per day, approximately 26 days per month
Contract Term: 36 months

Job Purpose:
Lead the project in developing completions philosophies and procedures, ensuring a seamless handover process from engineering to construction. Oversee the transition to full mechanical completion and readiness for operations by ensuring the facility and all components are constructed and installed according to design, intent, and project specifications. Assist with systemisation, scheduling, execution strategies, and review and approval of contractors’ detailed procedures for pre-commissioning and commissioning to maximise onshore efforts and optimise offshore schedules.

Job Context and Major Challenges:

  • Act as handover lead for design and risk-based evaluation of technical issues related to completions systems and database build, ensuring deliverables comply with project requirements and quality standards.

  • Drive and coordinate delivery of turnover and acceptance deliverables per project requirements.

  • Provide expert oversight and review of completions documentation.

  • Analyse technical proposals, assess deviations, and evaluate new technologies to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Maintain focus on readiness for startup turnover and acceptance for all project deliverables.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Lead and assist contractors in designing, building, and reviewing the System Completion Database based on actual data and project information.

  2. Support contractors to keep certification databases current and resolve any deviations in coordination with teams.

  3. Assist in defining subsystem boundaries and systemisation processes by providing project information.

  4. Support allocation of tags and Quality Verification Documents according to scope and priorities.

  5. Participate in management of change evaluations to ensure accurate system interface and certification.

  6. Collaborate with department managers and staff to resolve turnover and acceptance issues.

  7. Support preservation activities ensuring routine completion and audit traceability within the completion database.

  8. Coordinate complex internal and external interfaces, including simultaneous operations.

  9. Guide walkdown teams with scheduling and execution in line with project procedures.

  10. Ensure consistency in checksheets, punch lists, exception reports, and readiness documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences or Engineering.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience with large-scale construction projects in related disciplines (construction, installation, fabrication, execution, completion, hook-up) within the Oil & Gas industry.

  • At least 1 year in a supervisory role or oversight capacity.

  • Advanced knowledge of turnover and acceptance systems and completions software, with proven experience building completions databases.

  • Experience in project completions, systemisation, and development of pre-commissioning and commissioning documentation.

  • Familiarity with design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria related to fabrication, transport, installation, brownfield execution, and hook-up.

  • Experience with offshore and onshore facilities and yard operations.

  • Knowledge of execution methods and risks related to sour gas and LNG production facilities.

  • Experience working in large-scale operating organisations in Operations, Projects, or Subsurface areas.

Technical and Business Skills:

  • Strong organisational, leadership, coordination, planning, interface management, and technical judgement skills.

  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities.

  • Skilled at analysing complex issues, providing recommendations, and preparing contingency plans.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and advanced computer literacy.
