Job Title: GL Accountant

Location: Doha, Qatar

Contract Type: Full-Time

 

Job Purpose:

The GL Accountant will apply and consolidate accounting and financial knowledge and skills for executing various General Ledger (GL) activities such as month-end financial closing, cost allocation, Joint Venture master data set-up, and maintenance of the Chart of Accounts. The role requires a sound understanding of accounting principles, concepts, and standards, ensuring the effective completion of all related processes.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

Key Job Accountabilities - I:

  1. Month-End Financial Closing:
    • Perform month-end financial closing activities according to approved procedures, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and compliant with Operations & Maintenance, Joint Venture, and Service Agreements.
  2. Master Data Maintenance:
    • Execute financial master data creation and maintenance for all QG OPCO, Joint Venture Companies, and Common Facilities (e.g., vendors, customers, cost objects, GL accounts).
  3. Account Reconciliation:
    • Perform the accounts reconciliation process for all company accounts, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports through well-controlled reconciliation processes.
  4. Interface with Finance Divisions:
    • Interface with other finance divisions to obtain and provide financial information, utilizing financial documents (e.g., statistical key figures, impact of allocation).
  5. Routine Reporting:
    • Prepare regular GL reports such as the month-end closing KPI, vendor monitoring report, and accounts reconciliation management report.

  1. Process Improvements:
    • Recommend efficiency improvements to base routines and provide feedback to the supervisor.
  2. Project Participation:
    • Participate in both routine and non-routine projects within defined processes and terms of reference.
  3. Report Preparation:
    • Assist senior colleagues in preparing reports and ensure the delivery of work following established guidelines and procedures.
  4. Data Collation and Analysis:
    • Collate routine and non-routine data into standard outputs, supporting analysis and processing of financial transactions and reconciliations
  5. Guidance and Mentorship:
    • Provide guidance and advice to graduates, assisting in their development and helping them deliver required outputs.

       

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a Commercial discipline; or
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline and an internationally recognized professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA, CIMA, CMA, CPA).

Knowledge and/or Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a finance function in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other accounting systems is required.

Technical and Business Skills:

  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Computer literacy, with working knowledge of business software programs and SAP.
