Fluids and Cement Superintendent

Location: Qatar, Onshore rotational (28x28 schedule)

We are seeking an experienced Fluids and Cement Superintendent to lead drilling fluids, cementing, and waste management operations for major onshore projects. The role ensures safe, cost-effective, and high-quality operations, while providing technical leadership and support to offshore supervisors and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all fluids and cement activities comply with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Lead and support a team of offshore Fluids and Cement Supervisors.
  • Provide technical guidance and coordinate with drilling and engineering teams in well design and operations planning.
  • Oversee service contractors in fluid and cement programs, logistics, and operational support.
  • Ensure product, equipment, and personnel readiness for drilling operations.
  • Monitor performance metrics (KPI, NPT, SQM) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage operational costs, budgets, and contractor invoicing.
  • Conduct technical analyses, operational reviews, and update procedures to prevent reoccurrence of issues.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, records management, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Support new technology adoption in fluids and cement operations.
  • Participate in risk assessments, audits, contractor meetings, and pre-spud reviews.
  • Capture lessons learned and implement improvements in successive projects.
  • Assist with environmental permitting, chemical discharge tracking, and compliance with local regulations.
  • Contribute to preparation of well programs, end-of-well reports, and state-of-the-art operational documents.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of offshore drilling operations experience with strong knowledge in drilling fluids and cementing.
  • Certification in Drilling and Completion Fluids and Well Cementing from a reputable organisation.
  • Valid IWCF (surface), BOSIET, and H2S (OPITO) certifications.
  • Strong understanding of fluids, cementing, and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to mentor, supervise, and support multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a track record of delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
