Role Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Field Van Driver to join a growing industrial solutions company supporting small-volume customers across a variety of sectors. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role combining hazardous product deliveries, technical tank knowledge, routine maintenance, and customer service. Safety, professionalism, and service quality are central to this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely load, prepare, and operate a delivery vehicle carrying hazardous products

  • Plan and manage delivery routes efficiently, considering tank size, customer constraints, and priorities

  • Deliver hazardous products into various tanks and containers at customer sites

  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments and stop work if conditions are unsafe

  • Perform pre-delivery and post-delivery equipment checks

  • Complete delivery documentation and obtain customer sign-off

  • Optimise delivery schedules and tank utilisation, coordinating rescheduling as needed

  • Provide professional, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service

  • Undertake routine maintenance on hazardous product tanks and identify any faults

  • Arrange purchase orders for remedial works where required

  • Conduct annual engineering inspections on tanks, ensuring compliance and reporting findings clearly

  • Explain tank operation and safe use to customers, highlighting any safety issues

  • Maintain van spares stock and coordinate with internal teams to resolve customer issues

  • Always wear appropriate PPE and ensure it is serviceable

  • Identify opportunities for additional sales, including increased volumes, hard goods, and training

  • Build and maintain strong long-term customer relationships

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence with a clean driving record

  • Experience in service, maintenance, engineering, or mechanical environments preferred

  • Strong safety mindset and ability to carry out dynamic risk assessments

  • Confident and professional communicator with excellent customer-facing skills

  • Physically capable of handling tanks and equipment

  • Strong time management and organisational skills

  • Attention to detail for paperwork and compliance documentation

  • Calm problem-solving skills for unexpected delivery or site challenges

  • Comfortable using GPS, mobile devices, and digital delivery systems

  • Able to work independently in a lone-working environment

Work Environment:

  • Long periods of driving

  • Physical, hands-on work in varying weather conditions

  • Deliveries to a wide range of customer sites with different rules and requirements
