MISSIONS / SERVICE DIMENSIONS

Job Title: LNG Tanks Field Construction Superintendent

Reporting Line: LNG Tanks Area Manager

Job Dimensions:

- Major energy project valued at approximately $18 billion

- Onshore facilities include 2 LNG trains (total of 13 mtpa), LNG and condensate storage, marine facilities (jetty and loading facilities), utilities, and early site infrastructure (resettlement village, security works, airport, permanent camps, and roads)

- Onshore EPC contracts valued at approximately $9 billion, with construction at around $4 billion

- Site personnel on board expected to peak at 15,000

- Responsible for monitoring and oversight of EPC contractor LNG Tanks works and other assigned tasks

- Work primarily focuses on LNG Tanks 1 & 2

Key Responsibilities:

- Promote safety commitment within both client and EPC contractor teams with comprehensive HSE knowledge and leadership by example

- Ensure adherence to all relevant HSE requirements to create a healthy and safe work environment

- Achieve team performance standards and corporate requirements

- Foster teamwork, professional development, and trust within the team

- Promptly report or escalate any incidents in designated area

- Coordinate and monitor all construction activities in designated area in accordance with project requirements and procedures, up to handover to commissioning team, with specific attention to activities involving the client's responsibilities

- Build strong working relationships with EPC contractor, both for routine management and critical issue resolution

- Facilitate creation of execution plans, method statements, and procedures ensuring alignment with project strategies and timely, quality execution

- Maintain physical presence at site to demonstrate safety and oversee construction quality

- Review EPC contractor construction progress, contribute to internal construction reporting, identify schedule risks, and propose mitigations

- Support overall site management in assigned area, providing inputs and coordination

- Analyze current and anticipated issues, identify risks, and propose technical or organizational solutions

- Oversee and monitor precommissioning and transition to commissioning, including SIMOPS activities

- Contribute to project peer reviews and technical assurance to ensure procedural compliance

- Monitor the effectiveness of EPC contractor construction management processes

- Lead or participate in construction planning meetings to follow up on issues and resolutions

Context and Environment:

- The project is a multinational joint venture, featuring significant social performance elements and project financing by prominent lenders

- Afungi site is remote with unreliable infrastructure and communications

- Site is subject to health, pandemic, and security mitigation measures

- Rotational work position

Accountabilities:

- Ensure safe delivery of onshore facilities during construction and handover to operations per approved schedule and budget

- Coordinate with other departments for safe, timely execution and delivery of fit-for-purpose facilities

Qualifications / Experience Required:

- Degree in engineering or relevant subject required, with advanced degree or professional qualifications preferred

- 10 years' relevant experience with at least 5 years at superintendent level

- Minimum 5 years on large greenfield projects, with mandatory LNG tanks experience; GTL, petrochemical, refinery, or gas processing/feedstock plant background

- Deep understanding of safety, environmental, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, organizational competency, and reputational risk in large complex projects

- Demonstrated HSE culture and safety leadership; strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence key decisions

- Fluent English written and verbal communication required; Portuguese or French is advantageous
