Position Overview
This senior role forms a key part of the Exploration team, providing broad support across all exploration activities. The successful individual will be a highly experienced professional who brings a strong collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment. Demonstrated technical capability and a strong track record of mentoring others are essential.
The position also requires someone comfortable taking responsibility for projects and offering guidance where needed. It is vital that the candidate is dependable, composed, and able to deliver clear and concise guidance to colleagues and management.
Position Responsibilities

Carry out geological interpretation—including well data, sedimentology, biostratigraphy, petrophysics, and geochemistry—and integrate these findings with seismic analysis to produce complete subsurface evaluations.

Possess strong regional geological and mapping capabilities, including gravity and magnetics, plate‑tectonic reconstruction, gross depositional mapping, and petroleum system assessment.

Interpret a wide range of 2D and 3D seismic datasets.

Demonstrate solid understanding of seismic attribute workflows, such as AVO/AVA, seismic inversion, seismic modelling, and other QA/QI‑related analytical methods.

Serve as a technical peer or subject‑matter expert during subsurface workshops and internal technical reviews.

Contribute to technical assurance processes, providing input aligned with recognised industry practices and workflow standards.

Support the screening and assessment of exploration opportunities through regional studies and evaluations aimed at identifying future prospects.

Collaborate with partners, contractors, consultants, and specialists to maintain adherence to established exploration processes.

Assist with management of the regional exploration portfolio.

Contribute to the growth and ongoing development of the organisation’s upstream business.

Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members to support their professional development.
Qualifications

Degree in Geoscience

Over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry

Extensive exposure to global and Mediterranean Basin play analysis

Proven background in prospect generation and technical evaluation

Strong expertise across multiple tectonic settings and reservoir types

Ability to prepare and deliver high‑quality technical assessments to senior leadership

Project management capabilities, including leading technical workstreams when required

Demonstrated mentoring ability and commitment to technical excellence

Strong commercial awareness and business understanding

Proficiency in a wide range of exploration‑related technical software
