Job Overview
We're seeking a proactive Expediting Lead to drive the timely arrival of critical materials and equipment for a large-scale engineering project. Reporting to senior supply chain leadership, you'll oversee the full expediting lifecycle-ensuring purchase orders move swiftly from issuance to on-site delivery. You'll mentor and guide a team of expeditors, coordinate cross-functional efforts, and navigate challenges to keep ambitious project deadlines on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coach a small team of expeditors, setting priorities, sharing best practices, and ensuring consistent execution of expediting activities.
- End-to-End Oversight: Manage all stages of the expediting process-from purchase order release through final handover-tracking milestones and identifying potential bottlenecks.
- Performance Tracking: Maintain and report on detailed status updates for orders, delivery schedules, and vendor performance; proactively flag risks.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with procurement, engineering, logistics, and construction teams to align schedules and technical requirements.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve vendor delays, shipment discrepancies, or material shortages; implement corrective actions to minimize project impact.
- Supplier Relationships: Build and nurture partnerships with key vendors and contractors, clearly communicating project timelines and quality expectations.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare concise, accurate progress reports and maintain comprehensive expediting logs, correspondence, and delivery records.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to procurement policies, contractual terms, and industry standards across all expediting activities.
- Vendor Support: Assist in vendor selection and negotiation to secure favorable lead-times, terms, and reliability.
Who We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (strongly preferred).
- Professional Credentials: Industry certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CIPS) is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years in supply chain or expediting roles.
- At least 5 years in heavy-asset construction or EPC environments.
- Experience in the Gulf region or other challenging, remote project locations is advantageous.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Deep understanding of expediting processes and supply chain dynamics in large-scale projects.
- Proven leadership and team mentorship capabilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation prowess with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
