Construction Estimator - Exterior Restoration

Overview
A well-established contractor specializing in exterior restoration and building envelope rehabilitation is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support projects across New York City. The company delivers façade restoration, roofing and waterproofing, concrete repair, masonry, architectural metals, coatings, and related structural preservation works for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings.
This role plays a critical part in the pre-construction process, ensuring competitive and accurate cost planning for complex restoration projects. The position is best suited to a detail-oriented estimator with strong knowledge of NYC façade regulations and hands-on experience pricing exterior trades.
Key Responsibilities

Review architectural drawings, specifications, and scope documents to understand full project requirements

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for masonry, concrete repair, roofing, waterproofing, façade restoration, and associated trades

Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations

Develop comprehensive cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and general conditions

Prepare and submit formal bid proposals and tender packages

Maintain and update internal pricing databases and historical cost records

Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits as required

Coordinate with project managers and operations teams to ensure smooth handover of awarded projects

Track awarded project costs and analyze variances between estimated and actual performance
Requirements

5+ years of estimating experience in construction, preferably focused on exterior restoration or façade projects

Strong understanding of NYC construction practices and façade compliance requirements

Experience estimating masonry restoration, concrete repair, roofing, waterproofing, scaffolding, and façade access systems

Proficiency in Excel and industry-standard estimating software

Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings

Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail

Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Background

Experience working with co-ops, condominiums, property management firms, and institutional clients

Familiarity with façade inspection programs and regulatory filing processes

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required
