Job Title: EPC Technical Director
Location: Atyrau, Kazakhstan (Project-Based)
Job Purpose
The EPC Technical Director provides high-level technical leadership for oil and gas EPC projects in Kazakhstan. This role is responsible for setting strategic direction, ensuring engineering excellence, managing risk, and fostering innovation across project phases. The Technical Director ensures project compliance with international standards and client requirements while promoting technical integration between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical strategies that support efficient and high-quality execution across all EPC phases.
- Ensure project designs, specifications, and engineering deliverables meet international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in design development, feasibility studies, and value engineering initiatives.
- Work closely with project management, procurement, and construction departments to ensure technical coordination and execution alignment.
- Identify and proactively mitigate technical and engineering-related risks.
- Oversee the review and approval of key technical documentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Lead initiatives for innovation and digital transformation in engineering processes and tools.
- Introduce and champion sustainable engineering practices and technologies.
- Manage technical relationships with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment on design intent and compliance.
- Mentor and develop senior engineers and technical leads, building a strong pipeline of technical leadership within the organization.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline)
- Master's degree is strongly preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 20 years of industry experience
- At least 15 years in technical leadership or management roles within EPC/Oil & Gas projects
- GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region experience (5+ years) is a plus
Knowledge and Skills
- Proven expertise in engineering design, project integration, and technical management within large-scale EPC environments
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO)
- Proficiency in engineering and project management software, with experience in digital transformation and automation tools
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities
- Effective communicator and skilled in client-facing and cross-functional leadership
- ERP experience (SAP preferred) for project tracking and resource management
