TELECOM ENGINEERING SPECIALIST

Location: Karimun, Indonesia (Onshore Project Site)
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 22 Months
Work Schedule: 8 to 10 hours per day, 6 days per week, approximately 26 working days per month
Rotation: 10 weeks on, 2 weeks off

An international energy operator is seeking a Telecom Engineering Specialist to support a large-scale offshore energy development project during the fabrication and pre-sailaway phases. The role will be based at an onshore fabrication yard in Karimun, Indonesia, supporting telecom and instrumentation engineering activities to ensure project deliverables meet technical specifications, safety requirements, and international engineering standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure telecom and instrumentation systems are delivered in accordance with project objectives and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure telecom and instrumentation engineering and procurement activities are conducted in line with regulatory requirements, project specifications, and approved engineering standards

  • Support contractor engineering teams in resolving telecom and instrumentation technical issues to ensure alignment with project objectives

  • Coordinate telecom and instrumentation system procurement activities between EPC contractors and system vendors

  • Ensure safe integration of telecom and instrumentation systems with existing and new facilities

  • Develop and maintain telecom and instrumentation engineering procedures, standards, and project documentation

  • Provide specialist engineering expertise to multidisciplinary teams during complex technical evaluations

  • Participate in safety and risk assessments including hazard and operability studies

  • Plan and schedule telecom and instrumentation engineering deliverables to support project execution timelines

  • Monitor contractor engineering performance and recommend corrective actions where required

  • Review and assess engineering change requests including potential cost and schedule impacts

  • Maintain and document lessons learned related to telecom and instrumentation engineering activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in telecom and instrumentation engineering within major oil and gas projects

  • Experience working with engineering, procurement, and construction contractors in large-scale energy developments

  • Knowledge of offshore and onshore facilities design, construction, and operations

  • Familiarity with international engineering standards such as IEC, IEEE, BS, NFPA, NEC, and API

  • Experience with hazardous area classification for telecom and instrumentation systems

  • Experience supporting both greenfield and brownfield engineering and construction projects

  • Strong technical understanding of telecom and instrumentation system integration

  • Ability to work effectively with multicultural project teams and international contractors

  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills

  • Proficiency with engineering documentation systems and standard office software
