JOB TITLE: Emergency Response Coordinator Lead
LOCATION: Afungi, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique
ASSIGNMENT TYPE: 28/28 Rotational
START DATE: ASAP
CONTRACT LENGTH: Annually renewable contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, deliver, maintain, assure, and improve all site Emergency Response activities in close coordination with headquarters.
- Lead a team of up to 10 personnel, with 1 to 2 direct reports.
- Inspire safety commitment in company and contractor teams through health, safety, and environment (HSE) knowledge and leadership by example.
- Ensure full compliance with relevant HSE requirements to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
- Support the Site Director as a member of the Emergency Management Team.
- Build team spirit, foster teamwork, and promote professional development and trust within the team.
- Provide strong Emergency Response leadership and promote best practices.
- Act as Emergency Response Coordinator during emergencies, exercises, and drills.
- Develop and implement emergency response systems and documentation.
- Review and interface with contractor documentation for compliance.
- Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve emergency response plans, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain induction and training materials, and keep records of all ER-related training and personnel competency.
- Organize and ensure availability of information needed during emergencies.
- Manage and distribute ER duty rota.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and facilitate continual improvement.
- Participate in audits, inspections, investigations, and emergency response training.
- Support crisis management and enhance business continuity/incident management plans.
- Ensure operational readiness of all site emergency response equipment.
- Provide assurance on contractor ER activities and develop activity plans and progress monitoring.
- Notify headquarters of emergency incidents per procedures and participate in investigations as required.
- Continuously update ER strategies to reflect changes in facilities and capabilities.
Context & Environment:
- Large multinational joint venture with significant social performance responsibilities and international financing.
- Extremely remote site with challenging infrastructure and communications.
- Mitigation measures required for security, Malaria, COVID, and other risks.
- Role based on a rotational work schedule.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- ICS 300 training is recommended; experience in Emergency Response development.
- Experience managing contractor compliance with relevant requirements.
- Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced environments and effectively engage stakeholders.
- Strong HSE culture and demonstrated safety leadership.
- Effective communicator and team leader with the ability to influence critical safety decisions.
- Strong written and verbal English; Portuguese or French is an advantage.
