EDS Specialist – Smart 3D Administration & Support

Location: Office-based
Assignment Type: 1-Year Secondment Contract (Extendable)
Work Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off, 8–10 hours per day
Compensation: 100 QAR/hour (fixed rate)

About the Role:

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced EDS Specialist to join a major project supporting complex engineering design systems in a leading industrial setting. This role will focus on the administration, customization, and optimization of Smart 3D (S3D) systems alongside interfacing with other SmartPlant software and related applications.

You’ll be part of a highly skilled technical team responsible for ensuring the seamless operation and ongoing development of Smart 3D tools used across multiple engineering disciplines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform full Smart 3D setup and customization activities.

  • Create and manage the project Plant structure within S3D.

  • Load and maintain multi-discipline engineering specification databases and libraries.

  • Schedule and validate SP3D database backups and review files regularly.

  • Administer Smart 3D network system security.

  • Develop and customize pipe supports and associated configurations.

  • Conduct clash management reviews.

  • Create and customize drawing templates for all discipline deliverables.

  • Manage SP3D Reference Data Catalogue creation and maintenance.

  • Interface and integrate with related tools, including:

    • SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)

    • SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID)

    • SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL)

    • SmartPlant Foundation (SPF)

    • SmartPlant Materials (SPM)

    • MicroStation

    • Laser Scan Cloud Point data

  • Maintain the design systems to ensure 100% operational readiness.

  • Provide ongoing support and configuration for CAD software across all disciplines (Architectural, Civil, Piping, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Equipment).


Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).

  • Software Proficiency: Strong expertise in Smart 3D (S3D), Navisworks, Aveva E3, and VB (.NET) programming.

  • Experience: Minimum 12–15 years' experience in Smart 3D administration, customization, and user support.

  • Industry Experience: Background in oil & gas, construction, or complex engineering project environments.

  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of SPP&ID, SPF, and database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server).

  • Soft Skills: Proactive, highly organised, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.
