E AND I MULTI TECHNICIAN - OPERATIONS AND START UP
Location: China (Onshore) and Qatar (Offshore)
Contract Type: Initial contract until 30 June 2027, with potential extension
Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off during offshore phase

Overview
A major offshore oil and gas development is seeking an experienced E and I Multi Technician to support construction, commissioning and start up activities across onshore yard locations in China and offshore facilities in Qatar.
This role sits within Field Operations and plays a key part in preparing new installations for safe and efficient start up, leading through to first oil. The position requires strong operational discipline, hands on commissioning experience and the confidence to work closely with start up supervisors and site leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Support onshore construction and commissioning activities in yard locations.

Witness and execute Operational Test Procedures.

Participate in commissioning activities including leak tests and functional testing.

Assist in preparing detailed start up procedures and operational documentation.

Support offshore hook up and commissioning and first oil preparation.

Coordinate with site leadership to ensure safe preparation of start up activities.

Assist in developing detailed start up sequences with field operations teams.

Participate in risk assessments, job safety analysis and pre start up safety reviews.

Prepare and manage permit to work requirements linked to start up activities.

Witness operational tests and liaise with commissioning and field teams.

Support preparation and control of start up tools and equipment.

Identify and verify critical valves and isolation boundaries for testing.

Review and investigate punch list items as required.

Maintain up to date marked up P and ID drawings during commissioning.

Promote safe working practices and contribute to incident free initiatives.

Assist with mechanical isolation, de isolation and draining procedures.

Support crisis response and emergency activities when required.
Technical Scope - Instrument Discipline
-
Strong knowledge of instrumentation and measurement signal principles.

Experience with safety systems including ESD and Fire and Gas systems.

Competent in field calibration tools and associated equipment.

Knowledge of hazardous area philosophies and Ex principles.

CompEx certification Ex1 to Ex4 preferred.

Experience in small bore tubing practices desirable.
Technical Scope - Electrical Discipline

Strong knowledge of HV and LV systems including generators, motors and switchgear.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.

Knowledge of hazardous area philosophies and Ex principles.

CompEx certification Ex1 to Ex4 preferred.
Requirements

Higher National Diploma or equivalent technical qualification.

Minimum 5 years experience in oil and gas production operations, including offshore projects.

Previous offshore operations or production experience preferred.

Ability to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration.

Confident to intervene and challenge where operational safety requires.

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Computer literate.
-
Willingness to work rotational offshore shifts and extended hours when required.
Certifications Required

Basic firefighting.
-
Valid offshore survival certification including T BOSIET.

H2S training approved to industry standards.
-
Permit to Work and Job Safety Analysis awareness training.

Confined Space Entry and Authorized Gas Tester certification.

Lifting and rigging awareness.

Manual handling awareness.
-
Radiation protection awareness.
-
Hazard and energy isolation awareness.
Working Conditions

Full time onshore presence during engineering and construction phase in yard facilities.

Offshore rotation during hook up, commissioning and start up phase.
-
Regular travel between international locations required.
-
Role expected to transition to offshore field operations following project completion.
