Drilling Superintendent – Oil and Gas
Location: Muscat, Oman (Residential or rotational arrangement may be considered for non-Omani nationals)
We are seeking an experienced Drilling Superintendent to oversee and manage all drilling, well completion, and workover operations. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling activities while maintaining the highest standards in health, safety, and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead safety and environmental performance across all drilling operations through active safety leadership and adherence to company HSE policies and statutory regulations.

Plan, direct, and oversee all drilling, well completion, and workover operations, ensuring all activities are researched, engineered, and implemented to the highest standard.

Prepare and approve drilling, drilling fluid, and cement programmes, ensuring required materials are available.

Keep abreast of advancements in drilling technology and share relevant developments with the team to enhance efficiency.

Review and approve operational and engineering reports, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

Provide technical advice to contractors and consultants, and assess responses to tenders for drilling services and materials.

Oversee contracted services to ensure compliance with requirements and maintain close coordination with service providers.

Prepare and evaluate technical tenders.

Manage budgets, ensuring drilling activities are completed within approved cost and schedule limits, with variances justified.

Conduct regular field visits to audit rigs, participate in inventory control, and chair daily operations meetings.

Promote continuous improvement through evaluation of performance against set objectives.
HSE Responsibilities:

Demonstrate personal commitment to HSE leadership.

Ensure contractors adhere to safety regulations and company standards.

Lead safety drills, meetings, and incident reporting in line with procedures.

Ensure Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) are completed for all non-routine tasks and Permit-to-Work (PTW) processes are followed.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 15 years’ drilling experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Valid IWCF Level 4 Surface (or equivalent) certification.

Strong knowledge of drilling technology, HSE principles, and MENA regional operations (Oman experience preferred).

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Strong technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Proven ability to plan and execute projects effectively, manage conflicting demands, and maintain a balance of cost, time, and quality.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

Medically fit to work in the field.
