Project Manager – Electric Utilities
Location: Akron, OH (Hybrid with regional travel)
A well-established engineering services provider is seeking a Project Manager with a strong background in electric utility projects. This role sits within a collaborative Project Management Team supporting transmission and distribution initiatives across Ohio and neighboring states. Candidates based in the greater Akron region — including western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, or northern West Virginia — are especially encouraged to apply.
You’ll oversee projects from early development through closeout, focusing primarily on transmission substation and line work, including greenfield builds, brownfield expansions, asset upgrades, and related infrastructure improvements. Occasional travel is required for on-site meetings, typically Monday through Friday. Hybrid work flexibility may be available depending on experience and team needs.
Key Responsibilities

Promote and uphold strict safety standards at all times, ensuring issues or incidents are promptly reported.

Drive project activities to completion across all phases, demonstrating ownership, initiative, and effective task management.

Lead or attend regular project meetings, maintaining up-to-date awareness of progress, schedules, materials, checklists, and documentation such as as-builts.

Participate in field walkdowns and collaborate with project teams to meet shared objectives.

Contribute to process improvements that enhance overall project team efficiency and performance.

Handle occasional physical tasks such as climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Prioritise daily and long-term tasks across multiple concurrent projects.

Proactively identify areas where additional training or support is needed.

Learn and utilise various software tools essential to project delivery.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.

8–10 years of project management experience.

Background in electric utility transmission and distribution.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with financial planning and forecasting.

Proficiency in standard business software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe).

Competence with scheduling software such as P6, including schedule updates.

Highly organised, self-driven, detail-focused, and effective in group environments.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Willingness to travel as required; travel and lodging are reimbursed.

Valid driver's license and personal vehicle for site visits.

Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing federally compliant drug and alcohol testing.
