Our client is a leading UK infrastructure operator, managing several high-profile and critical energy sites across the country. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and innovation, they are looking to strengthen their operations team in Beckton with a capable and committed Operations Technician.


Shift Pattern

Rotating shift work including:

  • 2 Days, 3 Nights, 4 Off

  • 3 Days, 2 Nights, 5 Off

  • 2 Days, 2 Nights, 12 Off

  • 12-hour shifts (6 AM – 6 PM / 6 PM – 6 AM)


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor plant systems as part of a high-performing shift team.

  • Ensure safe and efficient running of plant operations, aligned with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality) standards.

  • Monitor and control plant processes via DCS (Distributed Control Systems).

  • Conduct plant start-up, shutdown, and emergency shutdown procedures.

  • Perform first-line maintenance, defect identification, and basic repair tasks.

  • Support safety practices including Permit to Work, Risk Assessments, and housekeeping duties.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in operational performance and reliability.


Minimum Requirements

  • Time-served apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent in a process, engineering, or technical discipline.

  • Strong practical understanding of plant operations and equipment within a COMAH or similar regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated skills in:

    • Fault finding & root cause analysis

    • First-line maintenance & troubleshooting

    • Interpreting operational data and plant trends

  • Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work, including PTW systems and safety documentation.

  • A proactive, safety-conscious approach with a strong eye for detail and teamwork.


Ideal Candidate Background

  • Experience in chemical, power generation, refinery, waste-to-energy, or bioenergy sectors.

  • Comfortable working within a structured, safety-first environment.

  • Hands-on, with a “get it done” mindset and clear communication skills.
