Job Purpose

  • Conduct inspection and testing of coating and corrosion protection systems for process plants, offshore platforms, storage and marine facilities, and pipelines.
  • Analyse results to determine safe operating limits and submit recommendations regarding equipment condition, performance, and potential issues with corrective/preventive actions.
  • Review design specifications for new projects and modifications to ensure integrity and corrosion protection compliance.

  • Safety, Health & Environment: Ensure all activities comply with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Qatarization Program: Contribute to the development of local employees where applicable.
  • Firewall Compliance: Ensure adherence to anti-trust and competition laws and company policies.

Key Job Accountabilities

  1. Direct and participate in testing of coatings and cathodic protection systems; review preliminary interpretations from inspectors.
  2. Support operations to troubleshoot and investigate corrosion-related issues to avoid process upsets.
  3. Review material and design requirements for new projects and modifications; provide recommendations on corrosion protection systems.
  4. Monitor cathodic protection systems and arrange corrective actions; approve new system designs for projects.
  5. Develop painting/coating requirements, inspect paint quality, and provide recommendations for proper procedures.
  6. Measure ER probes and corrosion coupons, maintain records, and recommend corrective actions.
  7. Plan and supervise offshore platform surveys; maintain database to monitor structural integrity and initiate repairs.
  8. Conduct failure investigations, analyse causes, and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  9. Prepare turnaround work lists based on historical corrosion data; determine critical equipment and inspection frequency.
  10. Review coating GVI reports, assess risks, and recommend maintenance priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or equivalent.

Knowledge and/or Experience

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in material selection, corrosion control, and monitoring in petroleum plants, including at least 2 years offshore.

Technical and Business Skills

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of corrosion monitoring, inspection techniques, and relevant international standards.
